After graduating from law school and being admitted to practice in 1988, I served four years on active duty in the United States Navy Judge Advocate’s General Corps (JAG). I served two years (1988 – 1990) as a Trial Defense Counsel stationed at the Charleston Naval Base and two years (1990 – 1992) as an Appellate Defense Counsel stationed at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
During my time on active duty, I represented hundreds of Sailors and Marines at the trial and appellate levels for offenses ranging in severity from minor military infractions to crimes such as rape, murder, and espionage. After having been honorably discharged from active duty in 1992, I continued to serve in various capacities as a member of the United States Navy Reserve. I also served as a Commander assigned to the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Naval Support Activity, in Memphis, Tennessee. I am now retired from the Navy.
From 1992 until 1998, I served as an Assistant Solicitor in the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Greenville, South Carolina. As an Assistant Solicitor, I successfully prosecuted hundreds of criminal offenders for offenses ranging from DUI to murder. I spent my last two years in the Solicitor’s Office as Unit Head for the Drug Prosecution Unit. As Head of the Drug Unit, I helped establish Greenville County’s Drug Court Program, which offers an alternative to prison for drug addicted criminal offenders.
I left the Solicitor’s Office in 1998 so that I could focus on representing individuals needing legal representation. Since entering private practice, I have concentrated my efforts in the practice areas of personal injury litigation, criminal defense, and family court. My vast trial experience and expertise has allowed me to aggressively and successfully promote the interests and protect the rights of my clients in courtrooms all over South Carolina.
I would appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
